The Star of Bethlehem: Was it a Supernova?

Posted by admin - November 23rd, 2009

One possible astronomical explanation of the Star of Bethlehem is that it was a nova or supernova outburst: a new star blazes forth where none had ever been witnessed and leaves no trace for us to find in the future. Although their names connote a new creation, these magnificent objects are in reality moribund stars, although they are new (albeit temporary) additions to the nighttime sky. The appearance of a nova is fitful a really bright one becomes obtainable perhaps once every 25 or 30 years.

Going on this presumption, we actually should be due for a bright naked-eye nova at about anytime now, since the most recent one presented back in 1975 (not far from the auspicious star Deneb in the constellation Cygnus).

Most magnificent novae suddenly and unexpectedly flare into prominence literally overnight, diverting the instant attention of sky-conscious people. But after a prolific number of days or weeks of such prominence, it gradually regresses back to obscurity. Even more impressive but much less common are supernovae; stars that suddenly disintegrate themselves completely apart, briefly producing a marvellous energy output equivalent to the combined light of an entire galaxy of stars.

At the peak of its blowup, a supernova can shine with a brilliance capable of dropping shadows and can even be seen in broad daylight truly a heavenly announcement worthy of the birth of a king.

In our Milky Way galaxy, the erstwhile thousand years, there have been four stunning supernovae, in 1006, 1054, 1572 and 1604. Most probably, we are long for another, though the stars don’t needfully play by any odds we might calculate.

A historical hypothesis says that the star of Bethlehem was a supernova or hypernova occurring in the nearby Andromeda Galaxy. Although supernovae have been noticed in Andromeda, it is extraordinarily difficult to discover a supernova remnant in another galaxy, let alone find an accurate date of when it happened.

Although a nova or supernova is the most passable explanation for the Star, there is a primary problem with it, in that there doesn’t seem to be any standard record of a bright nova appearing in the sky during the time that biblical historians conceive the Magi made their journey.

Ancient Greece - Religion

Posted by admin - June 8th, 2008

Ancient Greece was a society very much based on religion. With periods of great conquest, the religion underwent many evolutions.

Ancient Greece - Religion

Greek gods were plentiful. You know many of them, even if you don’t realize it. A quick look at the planets in the solar system reveals names derived from Greek gods. For instance, Uranus is considered one of the two founding gods of the world by the ancient Greeks. That being said, ancient Greece religion was a bit more complicated than just names.

Religion in ancient Greece was based on belief in what we will call event deities. There were gods for love, war, the sea and so on. The gods were also anthropomorphic, which means the Greeks believed them to be physically and intellectually similar to humans. They were also attributed with strong emotions, as evidenced by the endless tales of their jealousy, revenge and wars.

The Greeks believed Zeus was the king of the gods. In turn, the gods fought and schemed for dominance under and against Zeus. They resided in Mt. Olympus and were known as the Olympians. These Olympian gods had come into power by defeating the Titan, a previous set of gods.

The relationship between the people of ancient Greece and the gods was complicated. The relationship could be personal when a god interacted directly with a person, geographic when a god favored a city or state, or very general. Regardless of the relationship, the Greeks believed the gods decided much of their fate, to wit, free will wasn’t much of a factor in the game. Given this view, the Greeks often made sacrifices and gifts to the gods, particularly those they sought assistance from. A long ocean voyage was never undertaken without first making an offering to Poseidon.

As Greece began to interface with other cultures, typically through war, religious views began to evolve. Islam, Christianity and the early Roman belief system had major impacts and all can still be seen today in modern Greece. Alas, the ancient Greece religion of belief in Olympian gods such as Zeus has passed into ancient history.

Are the Bible Codes Fact and Are We in the Last Days? You Need to Read This

Posted by admin - May 21st, 2008

Biblical scholars have been claiming for the last 25 years
various statements and biblical quotes in attempts to determine
if and when the events indicated in Revelations will occur.
Everyone has had a different theory and timeframe. Now, due to
the newly revealed bible codes, they are all in agreement (even
the skeptics) and it’s not fiction like in the Davinci code.
This is both exciting and spine-chilling at the same time. The
end times may really be near this time - and this isn’t a joke!

There are instances that we cannot explain like why the first
five books of the Torah, which were given to Moses were
sequential - no spaces, punctuation, etc… and it has been
passed down for more than 3000 years to keep it that way.
Revelations hints at a secret book that will be revealed in the
end times. Could these new codes be the “secret book” that
spells out the past, present and future? These ideas of a secret
code originated in Israel with Jewish scholars. Some famous
Israeli mathematicians created computer programs to create
matrix patterns and look for hidden codes in the original Hebrew
and Greek texts. What they found was nothing short of amazing.
They found Hitler, Saddam Hussein, the assasination of J.F.K.,
they may even have found damning evidence that World War 3 is
soon to be and that the events in the book of Revelations have
already started.

These findings were done by computer and intelligence code
breaking experts. They established that the odds against finding
these hidden codes were over 10 million to 1! They found “world
war” and linked it to our years 2006. They found a massive
earthquake linked to Japan in 2006. This is actually mentioned
in the Bible in Ezekial 38:19 as there will be a great
earthquake when Israel is divided. Could this be that earthquake
and will it be this year? These new revelations could be
prophecy of what is soon to come and it is both amazing and
shocking. This is coming from the bible and it all matches and
even the skeptics agree that there is something to this.

A leading researcher Roy Reinhold states “My calculation of
world war 3 beginning right after the abomination of desolation
on January 31, February 1 2006, meets the test of reasonableness
with regards to the prophetic word.” The abomination of
desolation is when the antichrist takes his seat in the Temple
of God and declares himself as God - the ultimate abomination to
God. This then starts world war 3. All the events surrounding
this are coming true - a European superpower, terrorism with
dirty biological weapons - there is a matrix on the codes that
brings out anthrax as a possible source of many deaths. This is
both fascinating and scary as hell. The world as we know it
could forever change and fast. Its all in these codes - economic
ruin, earthquakes, world war 3, the worst death toll in history,
Russia joining in against America, etc… If you want to know
more there are numerous books on the various matrices of the
bible codes, articles, etc… all over the internet. Just look
up bible code in your favorite search engine. It might just make
an atheist religious just to know the possibilities of what may
be lying ahead in our near future.

A Matter Of The End Being Nigh?

A Matter Of The End Being Nigh?

For years, decades even, we have been assailed by “prophets”,
conference speakers, writers and similar to the effect that “the
end is nigh”. In other words, that we are living in the end
times, that is, the end end times. The Second Coming will be
here before you can get home today!!

The Track Record Should we believe these people? On a
probability basis the answer must be resoundingly negative.
Christian have been assailed for two thousand centuries by
people who claimed that the end is imminent. They were all
wrong! Even so outstanding a disciple as Paul of Tarsus was
wrong. Look at (probably) the very first letter he wrote (or at
least, the first letter of his of which we have a copy, the
First Letter to the Thessalonians, commonly dated to AD 50).
This reflects his current view that the Second Coming would
probably happen before tea-time!But it did not.

Clearly someone, somewhere, sometime is going to be right.
Eventually. But in the meantime…?

Which begs the question as to how long the meantime will be, and
that simply puts the original question in a different form.

So what grounds are there for believing that people today know
better that Paul did in his day - Paul who was so very, very
near to God? Does someone, anyone have the answer?

Who Has The Answer? Well, Jesus told us who has the
answer. Not himself, in his humanity, walking the earth: “No-one
knows that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the
Son, but only the Father.” (Matthew 24:36)

If Jesus himself did not know, and if he has told us quite
clearly that no one else knows either, why do we become so
preoccupied in trying to predict the Second Coming? In trying to
do something which he has implied is both impossible for us and
is not our concern? If it was our concern the Father would not
have hidden it and kept it from us

Our Legitimate Preoccupations Are we so preoccupied with
this question because the version of Christianity which we have
is so insufficiently exciting that we need to contunually
embellish it? hype it up (because we do live in an age and
culture of hype)? give it a bit more spin (because we seem to
have more spin in our culture than we have simple truth)?

Some may quote Jesus that we should know the signs of the time:
“You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you
cannot interpret the signs of the times.” (Matthew 16. 3). But
Matthew 24. 36 clearly over-rides this. Indeed, Jesus
immediately went on to warn that “A wicked and adulterous
generation looks for a miraculous sign, but none will be given
it except the sign of Jonah.” And, it says, Jesus then left them
and went away. When we become preoccupied with looking for,
trying to discern, expecting the end times in our day, are we
not putting ourselves in the same category? ThePharisees and
Sadducees wanted a sign because what they had before them was
not enough. But in fact, had they been able to discern it, what
they had was considereably more than enough.

Paul’s case was different. He simply mistook the situation. We
cannot claim that. We have his mistake and 2000 years of history
as a basis for knowing differently. To know the date the Father
has determined is simply not in our portfolio to be concerned
with. In a sense, it does not, or at least should not, matter to
us whether the Second Coming comes at tea time today or in
another 2000 years.

In either case, there will be primarily one judgement for each
of us. Surely, our concern is to be ready for that - whenever it
comes. How and when and where it comes is of no consequence, if
only we are ready for it.

German-Jesuit plot for Europe against U.S.

Posted by admin - April 7th, 2008

For over 50 years, Herbert W. Armstrong warned that a European
combine - driven by Germany - would again thresh the nations.
Now GERMANY’S BACK WITH A VENGEANCE! Their <
b>Assyrian
power and influence grows daily while the
Israelite American and British peoples continue their nosedive
to oblivion. This was all prophesied. Herbert W. Armstrong’s
book T
he United States and Britain in Prophecy
makes this
abundantly clear. Beyond Babylon:
Europe’s Rise and Fall
further explains, as a companion
volume of sorts, what’s prophesied to happen next.

Why will the United States of America fall? Why is Europe
destined to win World War III? Why have we permitted Germany a
permanent military base in Alamogordo, New Mexico? Are we just
crying wolf? Yes! BEWARE THE BEAST OF EUROPE!

Biblical prophecy reveals that just prior to Christ’s return,
Europe will experience an imperial restoration. The final
revival of the so-called
Holy Roman Empire”
is a COUNTERFEIT KINGDOM OF
GOD.
Their last emperor will be presented as the “King of
kings.” The Catholic pope, the false prophet, will promote the
head of Europe’s superstate as a DIVINE EMPEROR! All who fail to
pay homage to the Vatican’s anointed will risk unemployment.
Those who refuse to recant will suffer death. A great martyrdom
awaits many of the true saints! (Revelation 13; 17:12-18).
Watch for the pope to get more active in politics.
EXPECT THE VATICAN TO PROMOTE ITS CANDIDATE TO LEAD
EUROPE!

The prophet Daniel foresaw this unholy alliance between the
Catholic Church and European Royalty (Daniel 2:44). He announces
their debut on the world stage (built by mortals) just before
the truly divine Kingdom of God is established. Christ will blow
them away and put an end to their show! Jesus will be a smashing
success as He brings the curtain down on them! (Daniel 2:34-35).
Europe’s puppet kingdoms will collapse and any foolish attempts
to fight against GOD’S LEGITIMATE SON will fail (Psalms 2:1-9).
All such campaigns will come to a miserable end (Revelation
19:11-21). The only hope of survival is to serve the true God of
Heaven and Earth (Psalsm 2:10-12).

Europe’s Dark Kingdom

The Vatican’s working out a deal with ten European kings, with
seductive offers of restoring them to political life upon
their now dormant thrones, in return for the favor of
acknowledging the supremacy of the POPE’S ANOINTED! The
ratification of this imminent Church-State union will be swept
through Europe’s Parliament by the MALIGNANT MIRACLES the pope
will perform. The pope will work his lying wonders in the
presence of Europe’s new EMPEROR! (Revelation 13:13-14).

The masses will be misled to presume the pope’s miracles are
proof that Providence has chosen such an individual to rule
Europe and save the world (Isaiah 47:12; Acts 8:8-10)! Europe’s
body politic awaits this infusion of soul to truly come alive.
What crisis will coerce Europe to hastily accept the pope’s
proposal to recreate the continent in his image? A hungry
Russian bear, stirring from an imposed hibernation? An economic
collapse or threat of another war in the Middle East or major
terrorist attack on Europe? Time will soon tell!

GERMANY is clearly the HEAD of this emerging EUROSTATE
(Isa. 10:5-6). The German churches have already left their mark
on the Maastricht Treaty with the Vatican’s seal of approval. As
reported in The Economist article, “Never on a Sunday,” an
ominous blue law was forcibly inserted in Europe’s grand design.
Could this be the cornerstone for their reconstructed Europe?
This greater Church-State collaboration ought to be of grave
concern to every individual and country that cherishes religious
liberty and national sovereignty.

Europe’s Downfall

As America’s on the way down and out, Europe’s on the rise and
circles overhead like an eager vulture! But their callous
treatment of God’s chosen will result in their PUNISHMENT! As
they hold us in contempt, refusing to let us go, they’ll
influence God’s decision to hold them hostage: in DESTRUCTION!
(Isaiah 47:6).

God doesn’t condemn Europe for bombing our cities or attacking
our countries, but God damns them for their pride and excessive
punishment! They’ll engage in an orgy of overkill! And they’ll
fatally attribute their military success to their
politico-religious system! (Isaiah 47:7-15).

EUROPE’S ARROGANT ATTITUDE will be their downfall (Daniel 5:20)!
Once they start thinking that they’re so high and mighty, so
eternal and invincible, God’s going to overthrow their
ignorance! (Revelation 13:4). He’ll forcibly bring them back
down to earth and make them face reality! “Therefore her pagues
will come in one day - death and mourning and famine. And she
will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who
judges her” (Revelation 18:8).

Sounding the Alarm in Zion

We must warn the world! (Joel 2:1). They’ve got to be told
what’s about to happen! It’s good news/bad news! The bad news is
Europe’s on the rise and will deport our people “beyond
Babylon.” The good news is that EUROPE WILL FALL! (Revelation
18:2). We must offer the hope and comfort that there is life
“beyond Babylon” (Isaiah 35:3-4). Yes, “Comfort ye, comfort ye
my people, says your God” (Isaiah 40:1). And how do we do that?
By reassuring captive Israel (all twelve tribes) that THERE
IS A GOD OF JUSTICE!
(Malachi 2:17; Psalms 58:11). The roles
will be reversed and the tables turned! (Isaiah 40:3; Revelation
13:10; Jeremiah 30:16). God will make war on those who declared
war on us! Our captors will become our slaves! All will be
forced to acknowledge that we truly are God’s people (Revelation
3:9; Isiah. 60:14).

God’s vengeance will result in our deliverance! (Isaiah
49:24-26). “And shall not God avenge His own elect, which cry
day and night to Him, though He bear long with them? I tell you
that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of
man comes, shall He find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:7-8). The Two
Witnesses
will boldly proclaim “the acceptable year of
the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God…” (Isaiah 61:2).

Let’s trust in God to do as He’s promised. Let the
Sabbath-keeping Church of God remain faithful to God as we’ve
promised, finishing the Work He’s given us to do (Matthew 7:21;
Luke 21:36). Everything’s moving quickly towards the fulfilling
of these mighty prophecies! Europe’s counterfeit kingdom’s on
the rise, but soon - enough is enough - “the saints of the most
High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kin
gdom
for ever, even for ever and ever!” (Daniel 7:18).
