Lotteries are becoming extremely common across the world. Their popularity can be seen by how the prize draws are frequently televised at peak viewing times just so everyone can get a pen and paper and check their numbers. Yet, even though the UK’s lottery tagline is “It could be you”, it well-nigh on certainly won’t be - no matter if you took part in the national lottery all your life. Most individuals do the national lottery merely for fun, while keeping alive the pipe dream of possibly having enough cash to do what you like. Many individuals don’t just purchase a ticket - they’re buying hope.
While such huge national lotteries genuinely make it next to impossible to win for every individual, there are prize draws that take place online that DO give you a good chance of acquiring high quality items such as a car, holiday or even a luxury house. These types of competitions - while not promising you a millionaire lifestyle - will present to you a very good possibility of being a winner. Moreover, one usually has to answer some questions correctly before being permitted into the draw. - so some skill is involved.
It’s a good idea to see what’s available on the net. Simply type in some words into Google such as prize draw competitions and you will quickly locate a lot of prize draws to try out.

The European Poker Tour released the schedule and information for its Monte Carlo event, and I really wish I could attend. The seven day poker extravaganza will offer fourteen different events in the Monte Carlo Bay Resort casino online and Hotel. Last year’s Main Event attracted over 840 players, with 22-year-old Canadian Glen Chorny clinching the title and taking home over $3.15 million. This year, the $12,633 (EUR10,000) buy-in No Limit Hold’em Championship (NLHE) is set to surpass all records previously set at a European poker tournament. With more than 1,000 players expected to attend, there is an estimated $12 million total prize pool. It was also noted that there will be sit n’ go tournaments as well going on all throughout the weeklong event. Clearly, just because of the fact this thing is set in Monte Carlo makes it a poker online event I would love to play in. there is something very appealing to playing poker in a lavish surrounding in a beautiful setting. I would feel like I was in a James Bond movie, and I would definitely be sporting a tux. The poker itself should be good, as the tournament is widely regarded and many of the best players from Europe and around the world play in it. so, for anyone reading this who is planning on attending: I am envious!

Now here’s a good lesson on how NOT to play a big pocket pair when playing online poker. I was at the casino one day, playing various casino games. I realized that I enjoy playing at home more. I was playing Texas hold em in an online poker room recently, and was dealt A-2 of clubs in the big blind. There were two callers, and then the player on the button made a small raise, about twice the size of the pot. Well, normally I am not calling to call someone’s preflop raise with A-2, but I was already in the big blind and it was such a small raise I figured, why not? One of the two original callers also called the raise. The flop came and it was K-7-2, with two clubs. The guy who made the small preflop raise bet out, but again only a small bet. If it was bigger, I would’ve folded. As it was, for such a small price I had bottom pair and a flush draw and figured I’d see if I could get lucky.
Well, the turn came down another 2. This time I did in fact get lucky. Now, for some reason, the original raiser made a huge bet, for almost all his chips. I promptly reraised him all in. He ended up having AA and lost the hand, very angrily I will assume. Now, did I get lucky? Sure. I probably shouldn’t have won the hand. But the point is this person would never have been in that situation if they had simply made a big raise before the flop. I know a lot of people may like to make a small raise with AA because they want more people in the hand, but that’s wrong. You can lose with AA, and the more people in the pot, the better you’re chances of losing with it. It’s always better to win a small pot than lose a big one.

The Race for Life is back again for its sixteenth time, and what a great event it is! There are many ways of taking part in this charitable run. It doesn’t have to involve running. If you enter yourself, you can always jog, hobble, or even walk. About half of the women involved prefer the amble to the sprint. Why not sponsor someone who is more athletically minded? You can also just donate money directly to cancer research UK as a gesture of support. Another fantastic way of showing your support is to launch a wish lantern. Yes, a wish lantern. What? I hear you say, you mean the pretty Chinese sky lanterns that the modern bride is now opting for as the finale to her special day? Or the dazzling spectacle most party planners are favouring over the more common firework? That’s right, a wish lantern can be a beautiful mark of how much you care about this worthy cause. Why not launch a lantern as a symbol of hope for a cancer-free future? Or release your lantern in remembrance of someone whose life was claimed by this foul disease? Or even as a celebration of someone who has beaten it? The options are endless. So, release your lantern today and help tackle cancer. What’s to stop you?

A more advanced concept that you can apply to any poker game should you deem it appropriate, is a light three bet. Light three betting involves re-raising a raise with a hand that more than likely would not win at showdown. This is a very read-dependent play, and should only be made given you have history with the opponent, and you know he is capable of a fold, or you are familiar with his probable actions on subsequent streets.
Let’s say you are in the big blind and it is folded around to the cutoff, which makes it four times the big blind. If you hold a weak poker hand, you could flat call, and try to outplay him on the flop with a weak hand out of position. This is usually a very negative expectation move, as you did not make any indications of strength pre-flop, and you are in a poor position to get any information on the possible holding of your opponent. You could find yourself lost on the turn or river, and may be committing money to the pot drawing dead. To get yourself out of this kind of situation, if you choose to play a pot out of position, you can three bet, and re-raise to ten times the big blind or more, and put the cutoff to a decision. Now you are in the position to make a continuation bet post-flop if he does choose to call, and you also give him the option of folding a weak poker holding if he was just trying to steal.
Another way to make this play is from the cutoff, when someone in middle position opens. Now, you have position on your opponent, and can decide the action post flop. If you don’t like the flop, and think he may hold something strong given he made a call, then you can check behind on the flop, and then re-evaluate the turn. A light three bet is much stronger of a play than a flat call, and when used sparingly, can add great value to your other bets and raises, and may allow you to see more flops as other players will fear your impending action.

It’s always tempting in poker that when you flop or turn a big hand to check it down and let your opponent either try to bluff at it, or let him catch a card that will make his hand that much better so he can come after you, besides the idea of disguising the fact that you’ve hit a big hand. Though a lot of the time, by checking a big hand, you’re not only giving your opponent a chance to draw out for free, but you are also losing out on bets that you could have gotten, that may then be lost when a scare card hits and gives your opponent a chance to fold.
Perhaps the primary distinction of when to go ahead and bet rather than play slow is when there’s already a decent amount of money out there. It’s always better to take down a hand than to gamble with the option of gibing it away.
The other major factor to consider is what kind of draws are in the texture of the board. If the board shows two of a suit or connecting cards, it is often wrong to let your opponent draw for free and hit that miracle card without having first put their money in against the odds. There are often in fact very few boards that don’t demonstrate some kind of draw, so unless you’ve just flopped the absolute unbeatable nuts, like quads or high full houses, it’s often better to go ahead and bet unless you think you can trap your opponent. Slow playing one pair or even two pair is often just a formula to get tore up.
When you’re not quite sure whether to bet out or not, it is often much better to err on the side of betting. In the instance that your opponent has a gut shot straight draw or a small pair that missed the flop, checking and letting them check and then hit the card which you have no way of knowing that it helped them can be a nail in the coffin onward to losing a huge pot that you could have easily taken down.
