Snuff out the competition without leaving a mark!

Posted by admin - April 30th, 2008

Does the competition drive you crazy? Are they relentless about
taking your clients away? Are customer loyalties becoming a
thing of the past?

In our ever changing world, it seems securing business these
days comes down to, who will provide the most services at the
lowest possible price.

To add insult to injury your previously served customers have
taken on a new militant attitude about obtaining your services.
They now believe they have a license to set the pricing, dangle
it over your head and threaten to call someone cheaper if you
will not meet their demands.

It seems the rules have changed and if we are not willing to
make the adjustment our businesses will continue to feel the
impact from the competition.

If the title to this article seems a bit brutal, harsh or to
blunt for your taste buds, then take a moment and reflect how
your business has been affected by your competition. How that
before they came along your were not being hounded about your
prices.

Think about how every year several more new businesses come from
out of nowhere. They don’t advertise, won’t get the proper
licensing, refuse to be properly insured and have shamelessly
solicited your customers. I can assure you that the competition,
given half a chance, would not think twice about putting you out
of business if they knew how.

A burr in your britches? I’m thinking, “OH YEAH!”

So how can you snuff out your competition without leaving a mark?

To begin you must first realize that all successful businesses
have always played by a set of unchanging rules.

1. Be #1. 2. Never reveal your business strategies or tactics.
3. Look for business that no one is doing or is willing to do.
4. Give more than what the customer is expecting. 5. Follow-up

1. Be #1. So what do I mean by being #1? It means you never rest
on your laurels. Remember you are only as good as your last
transaction. You must always excel at honing your skills, always
increasing your knowledge base and developing long term customer
relationships. This attitude sets you head and shoulders above
the competition.

2. Never reveal your business strategies or tactics. I don’t
care how well you know a fellow business person or how long you
have known them. Always remember what P.T. Barnum said,

“Some men have a foolish habit of telling their business
secrets. If they make money they like to tell their neighbors
how it was done. Nothing is gained by this, and oftentimes much
is lost. Say nothing about your profits, your hopes, your
expectations, your intentions. And this should apply to letters
as well as to conversations. Goethe makes Mephistopheles say:
“Never write a letter nor destroy one.” Business men must write
letters, but they should be careful what they put in them. If
you are losing money, be specially cautious and not tell of it,
or you will lose your reputation.” - P.T. Barnum

3. Look for business that no one is doing or is willing to do.
Here is where your competition will strike out. They are always
looking for what everyone else is doing so they can copy it and
make a fast buck. If it is too detailed or involved there is a
greater chance of you securing that niche market and exploiting
it for greater profits.

4. Give more than what the customer is expecting. Most of the
competition will only do just enough to get the job. The smart
business person goes beyond what was stated to do. You are
looking out for your client’s best interest. This initiative
builds additional value into your service. It also shows your
customer that you value them as a client and not just a
transaction.

5. Follow-up This area is where all businesses fail the most.
Simple gratitude goes a long way. When someone took the time to
call you or send you a “thank you” note for doing business with
them, you appreciated the extra effort. So why not do the same
for your clients.

Now that you have a clearer understanding of the business rules
let’s focus on:

How to snuff out the competition without leaving a mark.

Now before you ask, “Is it legitimate or easy to do?” I can
assure you that what I show you will prove to not only be
legitimate and easy to do, but can be implemented before your
next business day.

Will you need some help getting started? As a matter of fact the
very people you employ will be the ones that will assist you and
will be the driving force in securing more business.

1. You will begin having 3 staff meetings a week with your
employees. You must rouse the men and women of your employ to
strive for perfection in their work and tell them they will be
compensated for their achievements.

2. You must set daily, weekly and monthly goals for them to
achieve. A simple daily goal is to make contact with 5 different
customers you have not served. This can be done by phone or in
person. By doing this the public is beginning to learn of your
company in a more personal way but the competition has no idea
what you are up to.

3. You want to institute some good healthy in-house competition
between the employees. It’s great for moral, builds a bond of
loyalty to your company and keeps those in your ranks striving
to out do each other by meeting your goals.

4. Encourage your employees to speak up and let you know what’s
bugging them. Their opinions are usually valid and you should
take note of what is being said. Do this in your staff meetings.
Then invite others to respond. It is better to get a problem out
in the open to prevent harbored and hurt feelings.

5. Let’s also not forget to reward them for their efforts. No
matter the progress they make, you want your employees to be
glad they work for you. The best way to reward an employee is
with a monetary bonus. People appreciate getting extra money for
doing a good job.

6. You must give your top producers special recognition, because
they are the ones setting the standard. They are building your
company and assisting you to become more of an anchor in your
community.

I’m sure that right about now you are wondering what happened to:

Snuffing out the competition without leaving a mark.

You might even be thinking, “Why are we talking about employees
and not concentrating on who is hurting my business?”

Before you setout to undermine your competition’s efforts, you
must have firsthand knowledge of what your employees know and
correct it or improve on it. Building them up to be stronger
becomes another asset to your company. Their state of mind and
how they view your company could also benefit your business or
cost you business.

A well oiled machine runs more efficiently when all of it’s
internal parts are constantly checked to determine if they are
working properly. When a company wants to be a better producer
of goods and services and snuff out the competition without
leaving a mark, it is imperative that all who are involved in
the process are at the top of their game.

For this to happen it is up to the owner or manager of that
business to motivate their staff to become a team. A company
that has a staff working as a team will become stronger, vibrant
and harder to defeat. In turn the staff will come up with new
and fresh ideas that can produce more revenue and bring in more
clients.

While your competition is trying to make a fast buck you will be
busy building your army that will snuff out the competition
without leaving a mark. Your competition will simply not know
what hit them.

Kosher Wines

Posted by admin - April 30th, 2008

Many believe that if a wine is made in Israel, it has to be Kosher. Well, that is not always so, and in fact there’s a complete set of rules that make a wine kosher. In this article I will try and answer the question “What is a Kosher wine?”.

Generally speaking, a kosher wine is a wine that was produced according to the “halacha” - the rules of the Jewish religion. Those rules apply to every stage of the wine making process, and make sure that all steps have been carefully conducted.

The rules of the “halacha” state that the production process must be handeled by an orthodox Jewish person, and he must make sure that all stages are done properly without neglecting any of the orders. For example, the grapes must not be picked before the vineyard is 3 years of age, other kinds of fruits and vegetables must not be growing in the same field etc.

A kosher wine is called “kosher”, or “kosher lemehadrin”, while an unkosher wine is called “nesech”, and that means a wine that has been produced by not jewish workers. According to the “halacha”, even the pouring of the wine into glasses must be done by a Jewish person. The only exception to that is for cooked wines - those become kosher as soon as the wine temperature is greater than 75 degrees (Celsius), even if a non Jewish person handled it.

When shopping for a kosher wine for the Passover, one must pay special attention to the kind of the “hechsher” and see that the product is also kosher for Passover (pesach), meaning that there are no “hametz” materials involved in the process, that is - materials such as wheat flower and dough.

In past years it has been quite difficult to find kosher wines, especially in countries other than Israel, but today, there are many Israeli and non Israeli wines that are kosher, and the selection is quite large worldwide.

Lechayim! (Cheers)

Eating at London’s Restaurants

Posted by admin - April 30th, 2008

Some of the paramount of London’s restaurants are still considered to be some of the finest globally. Aficionados often go a long way to dine at one of these establishments & often you will be forced to book ahead to get a table, or at least to be willing to pass some time at their bars for some beers till somewhere is available. A leading restaurant to feast at is the Ping Pong restaurant; this restaurant is an attractive, funky place to dine at. This faultless & luscious spot dishes out a few of the leading Dim Sum meals that you will try, an incredible selection of aromatic tea & first-rate cocktails. If you love Dim Sum cuisine, then this restaurant is probably one of the greatest places to graze in.

Nobu is a fresh and new venue. This restaurant is their initial English project and it’s done greatly. Nobu’s food is fabulous & acceding that the meals are occasionally petite, this restaurant should not be a problem, since you will doubtlessly buy several orders - appreciate the calibre rather than just the the sizes. Predominantly, this restaurant provides superb food, has superb workers and a cracking service. Look at excellant london restaurants with the Time Out Guide.

Electric Birdcage restaurant, situated on St James Str. is a restaurant in which folk’s creativity might well go truly wild. At this new restaurant and cocktail bar the menu is based upon new Asian eating & was declared as the place to go to - the bar’s cocktails are spectacular and it’s master piece drinks have to be tried by buffs. Our capital presents lots of dear, exclusive eateries, but it also offers you lots of of cheap restaurants, and often these are thought of as London’s humble and buried catches.

The capital, as is well understood, is now an example of one of the most sensational towns anywhere - but on the other hand keep in mind it is often pricey. If you’re chasing pleasant, uncostly eating then you’re in the right town to find it, supposing one is searching in the right area. of the city’s contains legions of phenomenal outlets - pizza grills, uncostly Italians and all sorts of vegan places to eat. The Gourmet Burger Kitchen is an unbelievable burger grill inspired by various quality burger restaurants set up in the U.K. There is each and every mix of burger you can imagine, which implies it’s got burgers to cater for every person. GBK is pretty low priced, and of course their dishes are similarly extensive, there is definitely no compulsion to purchase any more at this venue. The Masala Zone is an up and coming bunch of funky Indian restaurants. These restaurants are quite low priced and provide excellent Indian Street foods, lovely for days when one needs to feast, all the same folk’s dinner plans cannot persist for too long, or even be good for times when you are going out with a gang of friends & you are looking for somewhere with first class food and obviously the vibes to equal it.

The Quick and Easy Formula For Hammock Buying

Posted by admin - April 30th, 2008

Here’s really simple way to buy your next hammock and make sure
that you don’t get ripped off in the process. Hammocks bring
back memories of lazy days spent in beach nations where time
seems to stand still. This is our memory too- don’t worry- we’ve
clearly been to the same destinations (and boy, we can’t wait to
get back to Jamaica!). We are going to run through a three point
system we use to make sure you get the best deal you can when
shopping for a new hammock. Let’s start with a few places for
you to check out when you are shopping that you might not think
would carry an exotic item like a Hammock.

1)Check out camping stores. You might not think a place like REI
would have hammocks, but they do. Nice ones. Lots of them. I do
not work for REI nor am I associated with them in any way.
However, I’ve shopped there a few times over the last 10 years.
I’ve been overwhelmingly impressed with their selection of
camping items and general supplies. They always have new stuff
at decent prices. What I didn’t know is that a hammock must be a
fairly popular camping item because REI (at least the one I went
into) stocks them. I suppose some campers must like to use them
after a hard day of mountaineering. This is great for you if you
only need one for your home. Check out camping stores near you.

2)Compare prices and use Ebay. I love Ebay for more reasons than
I can count. One of the best features of Ebay is the fact that I
can readily compare prices of hammocks (and everything else from
used fuzzy dice to camera phones) and then make my decision. If
nothing else, use Ebay as the first stop in your research
process to get a feel for what is selling for how much and what
general range of prices you should be looking for when you
finally do make a purchasing decision. Just take a look through
their listings tonight, there are people from all over the world
selling hammocks at good prices. If you are going to actually
buy a hammock, just make sure the seller has plenty of positive
feedback. It’s a great insurance policy.

3)This is the most important part of the hammock buying process.
Without knowing the quality of the hammock you are investing in,
there is not way of knowing whether not its going to last or
whether its going to be comfortable. Not all hammocks are
created equally to say the least. In fact, this is an
understatement. The old adage of “you get what you pay for” is
equally as valid today as it was at the turn of the (20th)
century. To give you an idea, we recently went on a trip to the
Caribbean. There were $20 hammocks available at very low prices
everywhere we looked. However, a quick quality check of these
revealed them to be of a lower quality (and therefore wouldn’t
be the most comfortable of thing to use in a few years after
they wore out).

Hammocks vary in quality from the superb to the dismal. Ask
anyone who has ever bought substandard hammock what the
difference is and you really will get an earful. You must know
what to look for to get the most comfortable hammock available
at the best price.

Natural Treatments for Anxiety

Posted by admin - April 29th, 2008

Natural treatments for anxiety such as meditation and hypnotherapy are gaining in popularity amongst sufferers of common stress as well as more serious anxiety disorders.

While drugs and supplements can promise some effectiveness in treating anxiety, holistic methods can help you to make an overall reduction in stress through long-term lifestyle changes.

Even for those severely stricken with anxiety, remedies such as Xanax and Buspar are meant to treat the symptoms of anxiety, not address the root causes. Xanax and other anti anxiety treatments can also have serious side effects including hallucinations, rashes, mouth sores, yellowing of the skin, dry mouth and headache. In addition, anti stress medication can cause serious addiction and withdrawal symptoms if the dosage is decreased suddenly.

Various natural supplements such as ginseng and valerian have been used successfully as anxiety treatments. For example, ginseng has been shown to have positive effects on anxiety, in addition to cardiovascular health, menopause, physical endurance and diabetes. However, once the substance is no longer ingested, the beneficial effects slowly dissipate. Like prescription drugs, natural supplements fail to address underlying triggers behind anxiety and stress.

It is interesting to note that doctors are increasingly turning to natural treatments for anxiety, in addition to more traditional methods. Studies are beginning to show the physiological effects which occur in the body during holistic practices such as meditation and hypnotherapy. For example, during Transcendental Meditation, a style of meditation founded in the 1950s by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, mental activity is slowed while alertness and clarity remain. Actual physiological changes include slowing of the metabolic rate, increased cerebral blood flow and changes in muscle resistance.

The changes are a direct reaction to physiological changes induced by heightened and continued stress. After Transcendental Meditation, the patient reports feeling relaxed, happy and better able to function both personally and professionally.

Hypnotherapy is another natural treatment for anxiety that is increasingly beginning to be accepted as valid in the medical community. Through guided imagery and positive associations, the patient works with the hypnotist to recognize underlying triggers and causes behind anxiety-ridden behavior. Hypnotherapy has also showed promising success in treating addictive behaviors such as drinking, overeating, smoking and drug use. What makes hypnotherapy so effective is that it cuts directly to the unconscious mind, where fears and phobias are housed. There are also physiological effects which occur during hypnotherapy (lessening of the heart rate, reduction of the stress inducing hormone cortisol etc.) which lessen overall anxiety and stress.

Drugs and supplements can be an instant fix for anxiety and stress and do promise a certain amount of effectiveness and relief. In fact, doctors may prescribe medication as a means of getting some of the more immediate symptoms under control. However, if you are suffering from an anxiety disorder or a heightened stress level, be sure to inquire about natural treatments for anxiety such as meditation and hypnotherapy.

A holistic approach, addressing both lifestyle and physical symptoms, can be a more effective treatment for anxiety than conventional methods, and may just be the answer for you.

Where are you currently heading?

Posted by admin - April 29th, 2008

Do you know where your current path is taking you?

Education, religious upbringing, core family beliefs and
friend’s values have been shaping your life up to now. You’re
busy with life, work, partner, kids and socials and have little
or no time to stop and think about where you’re life is heading.
In fact sometimes you hear a tiny voice in your head say, ‘I
think I’m losing my identity.’

Ninety-four percent of people don’t know where they’re heading.
Little wonder then that life seems to go around and around in
circles. And unless you take time out it won’t get any better.
Twenty years from now you’ll still be working like a dog works
when it’s chasing its tail. And that tiny voice… well if you can
still hear, it will be saying, ‘I’ve well and truly lost my
identity!’

And what is your identity? I say your identity is who you really
are, not your job, or your exam results, or your religious
persuasion or your family name or your bank balance or how much
you do to care for your dependants. No, you’re identity is
something else…

You we’re born into this world with a unique gift and a
distinctive way of expressing it, the problem is, with so many
other influences on you in your youth and adulthood you’ve
forgotten what those things are. Now you’re programmed and
running a set pattern of behaviour in what I’d call ‘The
Existence Mode.’

Your sense of identity in fact has most probably helped form a
person who you are not and maybe even don’t like too much
(grumpy, often tired, overweight, apathetic…) rather than who
you really are. But changing it, after years of shaping you into
this person you are now, seems like a task, way, way too massive
to even contemplate.

Yet while you continually throw your heart into doing what seems
right, performing in ‘The Existence Mode’ your soul is
searching. (That’s why you are reading this now and identifying
yourself in my words).

Your soul wants you to do the logical thing. Align with your
true identity - become all that you are. It doesn’t want to see
you floundering one day more. It doesn’t want you to be lost,
fed-up, mentally beating yourself or picking on the ones you
love. It wants you to be free.

Begin your search now.

Understand that you were born with a unique talent and a
distinctive way of expressing it; understand that at some level
you already know your life purpose and that it has just become
buried and that all you need now is just some time and a little
help to uncover it; understand life purpose is not just job
specific, though work is a key element because of the hours
spent doing it; understand without clarity of life purpose
living becomes existence. Until you know what you want you’ll
continue to run on the pre-programmed Existence Mode’.

Finding out who you really are and where you are really heading
takes a little time and may cost you some money. It’s a journey
- a journey that leads to self-fulfillment, greater rewards at
work and greater, all-round happiness.

Help Get Me Out of Credit Card Debt: 3 Steps

Posted by admin - April 28th, 2008

No doubt, if you’re here, you’ve probably made some mistakes financially. That’s okay, there’s no adult walking the earth that hasn’t. You can certainly be sure of that.

I truly enjoy helping people get their finances under control. It really does bring me a lot of satisfaction. One thing I do to make sure I stay abreast of new financail crises is to watch message boards. Many times people will join a message board and post something along these lines:

I really need someone’s help. My spouse and I have made some mistakes financially and now we’re really in a bind. We’re barely making ends meet. I’ve even taken on a part-time job. It just seems there isn’t enough money at the end of the month. No matter how hard we try, it seems there’s always something that comes up that keeps us from saving anything! Please, help us get out of credit card debt. We’re drowning!

Small details in these situations change, but the answer is almost always the same. If you find yourself in a similar situation, think long and hard about what you are about to read, then commit yourself to doing it.

Three steps to help you get out of credit card debt:
1: Cut up your credit cards and close your accounts. I don’t care about your FICO. I don’t care about “emergencies”. You need to stop borrowing money. You can’t dig yourself out of a hole - you need to climb out. Cut up your credit cards and close your accounts. This step might take a lot of faith on your part. It maybe sent an uneasy feeling to the bottom of your stomach. That’s okay though - that’s just because you have gotten so used to that comforting plastic that you’re going through a bit of withdrawal. Take a deep breath and destroy your credit cards.

2: Get on a written budget. What does this mean? You write down everything you spend and you sit down at the beginning of the month and budget your money. Experience (mine and thousands of others) has shown that when you begin budgeting your money by having a plan and sticking to that plan, you experience a raise. And usually it isn’t the 3-4% raise you’re used to. We’re talking 10-20% - even 30% at times. When you plan and budget your money you are not constricting yourself, you are telling your money what you want it to do. Once you do that, get out of its way and let it do what you told it to! Once you’re on a written budget you’ll see where you can easily cut back on unnecessary expenses while not even experiencing a change in your lifestyle (which wouldn’t be the end of your world, if you’re having credit card debt issues). Once you have a budget in place, you’ll see where the extra money can come from - enter step three.

3: Snowball your debt. This final step will be the final blow to your credit cards. Do you want to know what will really help you get out of credit card debt? Big, fat payments on the principal that you owe the credit card companies. That’s right, you will not be shifting the debt around, pretending to actually be doing something. You will be paying down your credit card debt one step at a time.

Let’s do a quick recap on what will help you get out of credit card debt:
(1) Cut up your credit cards and close the accounts. Never use them again.

(2) Get on a written budget. You tell your money what to do - not the other way around.

(3) Snowball your debts into absolute oblivion.

The Importance of Web Standards

Posted by admin - April 27th, 2008

Welcome to our website; unless of course you’re
blind, dyslexic, using a screen reader, magnification software,
text-based browser, webTV, cell phone, or PDA, running Linux,
Unix, BEos, Solaris, OS2 or FreeBSD, or haven’t updated your
browser in the last year or so. You’re not important to us.

Is that a message you’d proudly display on your company
homepage? The truth is, if you’re not using web standards, this
is what you’re saying to roughly 20% of internet users.

I know you’re probably asking “what are web standards?” Well,
web standards are nothing more than recommendations put forth by
the w3c in an attempt to standardize the web. Standards are
“best practices” for coding to ensure usability by all modern
web browsers, and guarantee forward compatibility.

Often times, converting to standards compliant code requires
nothing more than using CSS instead of font tags, writing
properly nested HTML, and not using any browser-specific code
(like < blink > or .innerHTML).

And the good news is, the w3c offers a code validator at http://validator.w3.org

Still need a reason to write standards compliant code? Lets look
at some statistics.

As of June 2005 , only 72% of internet users were browsing with
a current version of Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Also as of June, there were 203,000,000 internet users in
America. Is your IE only website is saying “I don’t want your
business” to more than 54 million Americans?

Do you use IE only JavaScript or browser detection in your site,
have a flash based intro page, use a popup for content, or font
tags? Is your site done in FrontPage? Do you use inline frames?

If so, you’re not only refusing visitors but you’re wasting
money too.

By using web standards, the typical FrontPage website can be
reduced from 60k to 20k, thus only using 1/3 of your bandwidth.

Simply removing the depreciated font and center tags and
switching to an external CSS file can reduce a 30k website down
to 15 or 20k. Not only will this drastically increase your
website’s speed, but it’ll also save you money on hosting and
make your pages more attractive to search engines.

Using ECMAscript instead of the browser specific JavaScript or
Jscript will not only assure your code will work in all future
browsers, but it will stop you from paying developers to code IE
and Netscape specific versions of your website.

What’s that, you haven’t heard of ECMAscript? Chances are your
web developer hasn’t either. ECMAscript is the cross browser
standard version of JavaScript; it’s been around since 1988.

You don’t see gas stations that only sell gas for Toyotas, so
why do we design websites that only work in Internet Explorer?

Much of the problem stems from the fact that we tend to view the
web as print. It’s not. Different users will see different
things, let them; just make sure your site works in all
browsers. I’ve seen a lot of pretty websites in IE that just
don’t work at all in Firefox or Lynx.

Are aesthetics so important that they’re worth alienating 20% of
your potential customers?

Diet - The 3 Most Important Tips To Lose Weight FAST!

Posted by admin - April 27th, 2008

Enclosed we have outlined the 3 most important tips to lose weight fast that can be incorporated into any sensible diet and are guaranteed to speed the weight loss process.

To lose weight fast you have to first be on a sensible diet and by this we mean:

1.Calorie intake is sufficient for your height and build.

2.Your diet is balanced ( no fad diets ) you will be eating protein, carbohydrate and healthy fats.

3.You will not be starving yourself and eating 3 - 5 portions a day.

The above are the 3 basics of any healthy diet and following the 3 tips below will ensure those extra pounds fall away even quicker!

Here then are the 3 most important tips to incorporate in a balanced diet to lose weight fast:

1. Drink Water

Let’s start with the most important, but often neglected tip for losing weight fast drinking lots of fresh water. Still or sparkling it doesn’t matter, but you must drink plenty of it. Why drink water?

1. Fends off hunger pangs

It acts as a natural appetite suppressant by keeping your stomach full and fending off dehydration. Many huger pangs are simply thirst signals linked to de hydration, so by drinking lots of fresh water throughout the day you will avoid these hunger cravings

2. Metabolizes fat

More importantly water helps your body metabolize stored fat by helping the kidneys flush out toxins waste.

When the body receives in sufficient water the liver which works to provide stored fat for energy switches to helping the kidneys, because of this extra burden becomes less efficient at metabolizing fat.

3.Burns calories

Drinking two liters of iced water a day burns about 60 calories.

The body has to work to raise that waters temperature to your body’s temperature and this burns fat.
